Welcome to

***** Dale Ziemianski *****

I went to Columbus College of Art and Design on scholarship, but since they didn't teach what I wanted to know I studied on my own, through the library and through experience. I studied techniques, business, marketing and the various publishing fields to get a feeling for where I could go with my art. Any career in the world can be learned in the library...and now also on the internet. Just read! If you read a text book from cover to cover it's like talking with a professor for free.

I've been drawing professionally since 1978, painting professionally since 1995 and working professionally with digital illustration for only the past few years, and I have to tell you, since I began worknig in digital illustration, I've grown exponentially both career-wise and artistically with every painting I do.

I'll be offering classes in my exclusive, original painting techniques and digital illustration techniques that I developed myself that anyone can do and I'll also teach basic drawing.

I have never seen my instructors paint the entire time I spent in art class from kindergarten up. I spent every class having instructors tell me to paint in a medium I was totally unfamiliar with and then tell em what I did wrong. I just can't see how an artist can learn that way.

Most of the time, all a student needs to help them along is to actually 'see' someone draw and ask questions along the way. I let my students watch me draw and I explain what I'm doing while I'm doing it. I welcome interruption. I want you to feel at home in my class.

"Private Lessons"
All Levels

By scheduling Private Lessons, I can provide exclusive attention to my student's individual needs. No matter what level, once you get the science and technique behind the processes of Drawing, Painting and Digital Illustration, the rest will come with practice.

But all the practice in the world won't help you if you're practicing the wrong things.

I start by looking at your work. That gives me an idea what level you're at.

I break down the process so you can understand it. I don't just tell you to draw and critique your work. I give you a point at which to start and walk you through the process.

I ask you what it is you want to learn. Only you know where your weak points are. We can start there if you like. Whether it's techniques, concepts or the business side of art, I can save you all the anxiety of the 'trial and error' method by sharing my sucesses and failures so you know where to go with your talent.

I can also work around your schedule, rather than making you schedule your life to fit my class in. I'm self employed, so I'm pretty flexible and easy to get along with. And if you can't make my class, you can re-schedule by email or phone.

Stop by my Art Blog. I just started this in August and will be expanding on it. Right now I'm covering colors, and their psychological effect on us, and how they can be used to create certain emotions and effects. I'll also cover the business side of illustration and share some techniques. You'll definitely want to bookmark it or add it to your Google Reader. (I'll even create a blog to show you how to do that!)

Lessons are $45/lesson - lessons are 2 hours.
